How to Pitch To An Angel Investor

The Golden rule; be yourself!

Accept that these people have just made more money than you and that they want to give you the money.

TV programmes have depicted meeting an Angel as one big bag of sarcasm and dread.

In the real world, Angels are willing you to give the “right” answers.

If they are not investing, they are not making money!

Do not use jargon, practice your elevator pitch, tell them what problem you solve and what USP you have over the competition, by the way, there is always competition, even if they have not yet started!

Finally, learn the numbers. There are perhaps 10 key figures (Turnover, Gross and Net Profit etc). Get a loud-mouthed mate to ask difficult questions. I find South Africans really good for this.

Angels are in it for the money and need to be able to trust that you understand the significance of numbers.

After all, would you trust a mechanic who couldn’t quite remember where the engine was?
