Three Minutes Of Fame - Video Pitching With Angels Den

PRESS RELEASE - 28 May 2008

Angels Den is launching a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to pitch directly to Angel Investors via the internet using a three minute video pitch, a real first as no other company uses a video pitch accompanied by an online business plan.

Video Pitching allows the entrepreneur to create a short but informative film to play to Angels to engage with them in a way that a straightforward written business plan won’t allow. This is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to get really creative, putting together an eye catching film using a variety of images and multi-media demonstrations while talking about their business.

No matter how good a business plan is, investors look to partner with entrepreneurs they like as people, so even if it’s the best idea in the world, if the chemistry is not there then a relationship will not develop.

Angels Den recommends a three minute pitch covering off the key points of the business plan and to make it short and snappy. Because the full plan is on the website, this is an opportunity to get across the energy and enthusiasm of the business developer to investors.

Angels Den Co-Founder Bill Morrows says: “Video pitching really takes Angels Den to the next level and captures the essence of what an online investment community is. We believe firmly believe that a great pitch, delivered with enthusiasm, conviction and energy can often be the key to getting your business idea funded successfully.”

A Video Pitch is like a mini corporate video, but with the slant on selling the company, rather than the product. Angels Den has created a list of top tips for video pitching to help entrepreneurs take their business plans to a virtual platform.

  • Bring anything that is portable and looks good visually, for example a small product or typical application
  • Use a clear version of the company logo or branding
  • Use Power Point flowcharts / graphs / pictures that add illustrate points in the pitch. Angels will see the pitch alongside the Summary so there is no need to add additional slides of words
  • If the company is a website or this is a key part, use screen-prints of the key pages that illustrate the company
  • Know your numbers – include details about sales, margins, turnover and profit. Investors want to know figures and reeling them off with confidence will show them that finances are to be taken seriously
  • Look presentable - Angels will sum an entrepreneur up in the first few seconds of seeing them.
  • Don’t use jargon or technical terms, Angels may not work in the same sector that is being pitched to them
  • Finally, the video pitch needs to be short and concise. Angels are looking for entrepreneurs who can explain their ideas in three minutes, if this can’t be done then the idea is too complicated
The filming of video pitches starts in early June and is available to entrepreneurs who are registered with Angels Den. For further information visit www.angelsden.co.uk
